What is Unplug for a Cause®
One of the most effective ways to distract yourself and your family from screen time is to be of service and connect to something bigger. Aligning the concept of digital wellbeing and volunteerism can help families and individuals protect their mental health. Unplug Collaborative partners with nonprofit organizations and corporate sponsors to create volunteer opportunities and help people in need.
The negative impacts of too much screen time and the comparison culture of social media are found in almost every home regardless of age, gender, religion, geo-location or income level. In order to make digital wellbeing accessible to all, Unplug for a Cause® has been activated at under-served schools and communities around the country.
One fun way to connect worthy causes to healthier tech habits is to launch an Unplug-A-Thon.

Decorating Smartphone Nap-Sacks - NYC Winter Carnival
The wonderful team at Knock Knock Give a Sock in partnership with Christmas in the City has created a winter carnival that students and families in a NY city school look forward to every year. Our team activates a Family Unplugging Station where students decorate and fill the Smartphone Nap-Sacks with screen-free hand held games.
Unplugged Minutes provide socks for people in need
Over the past few years, during the weeks leading up to Global Day of Unplugging, lilspace has donated (3) pairs of socks to people living in homeless shelters for every 30 minutes someone tracks their time unplugged using a paper counter or the lilspace timer app.
Unplug and Crochet for a Cause
Unplug for a Cause® is a trademarked program of lilspace LLC, a sponsor of Unplug Collaborative.
