Global Day of Unplugging 2026
March 6-7
GDU 2026 March 6-7
What is GDU 2026?
Global Day of Unplugging (GDU) is more than just a day; it’s a year-round nonprofit and awareness campaign that supports people in building intentional, screen-free moments and gatherings in their communities.
BUT once a year, it all comes to a head the first weekend of March, when we invite people around the world to unplug from screens for 24 hours and reconnect with themselves and their communities.
How do I plan an unplugged gathering?
We know unplugging isn’t always easy, especially in today’s digital world. Asking people to disconnect, even for an hour, can feel daunting for both you and them. But with the right intention, support, and a little creative flexibility, it’s more than possible. That’s where we come in as your unplugging cheerleaders. We’ll work with you to build a gathering that feels right for your community, using our tools, guidance, and collaborative approach every step of the way.
How does GDU support gatherers?
Year-round, our Unplugged Village membership gives you access to collaborative planning calls, downloadable gathering resources, plus early access to giveaways and discounts from our partners.
BUT during GDU March, we unlock much of that support for free, because growing the Unplugged Movement matters more than anything.
Starting in September, you can submit your GDU 2026 gathering via our Gathering Submission Form, and we’ll help you get the ball rolling.

Thousands of groups and individuals worldwide celebrate Global Day of Unplugging, but it’s not always easy to track who, what, and where these gatherings take place. By sharing your experiences, you help us become a better resource in supporting those fostering real-life connections.
Every year over the past decade, Global Day of Unplugging has taken place on the first weekend of March, kicking off at sundown the night before. Schools, businesses, and individuals around the world plan tech-free gatherings in the days leading up to and following the big day to maximize its impact!
Whether it was just one hour or a full 24 hours, people everywhere unplugged from their screens to dive into offline activities, real-life conversations, in-person connections, and meaningful moments.
