Tokyo, Japan
Welcome to our Unplugged Village®
Since 2009, hundreds of thousands of Global (formerly National) Day of Unplugging participants have joined the movement to elevate human connection over digital engagement in their cities across the globe.
Michelle Pietrzak-Wegner has joined the unplugging movement! Michelle is a Tokyo-based licensed somatic-based psychotherapist with a twenty-year background in teaching and facilitating yoga, mindfulness, and somatic practices that are rooted in teaching people how to slow down, connect to sensation and restore their relationship with their body and their inner selves. While dividing her time between her private psychotherapy practice and facilitating community events centered around what she calls "slow practices", Michelle is passionate about providing avenues for others to discover quality connections in life through nature, movement, and creativity.
She is serving as the Japan-based Director for Global Day of Unplugging and is inspiring individuals and communities to gather, connect, and recharge without electronic devices.
Michelle offers several opportunities to unplug including:
HANAMI + HOBBY
Cherry Blossom Viewing Picnic and Hobby Time
Every year in early March thousands of people across the globe unplug from technology. Why? For quality human connection!
Tokyo Unplugged Village, gatherings without devices, is coupling our yearly gathering with the seasonal Japanese tradition of slow time under the cherry blossoms. Join us for HANAMI + HOBBY, a picnic gathering of hanami (cherry blossom viewing) and your hobby. Together we'll enjoy food, snacks, drinks and whatever hobby you'd like to bring: crafting, reading, drawing, knitting, board games, crossword puzzles, birdwatching, painting, napping and more. Join your Tokyo community and others around the globe in stepping away from our phones, laptops and computers to engage in connection with others and the beauty of Spring in Tokyo!
This event is FREE and will be held at Yoyogi Park on Saturday, March 28, 11am-2pm. Participants are responsible for bringing their own picnic or snacks, a blanket or picnic mat, and their personal hobby. Each registered participant will receive a complimentary Global Day of Unplugging phone knapsack for tucking your phone away in style!
