Welcome to our Unplugged Village®

Since 2009, hundreds of thousands of Global (formerly National) Day of Unplugging participants have joined the movement to elevate human connection over digital engagement in their cities across the globe.

Michael OBrien of Pause Breathe Reflect has joined the movement! Pause Breathe Reflect™ is an app and also a mindfulness movement spreading kindness and community around the world. Michael recovered from a near-death cycling accident that he call “My Last Bad Day”, and this prompted his life shift and led to a life-changing a-ha moment. Michael joined our Fall 2024 Cohort holding a scavenger hunt and mindfulness booth at a local Farmers Market in New Jersey. Check out his video message below to learn more about the movement.

For Global Day of Unplugging 2025 Michael is planning the following:

Global Day of Unplugging - Disconnection Retreat

March 7 - 8 Sundown to Sundown

Join us for a transformative 24-hour semi-silent retreat as Pause Breathe Reflect partners with the Global Day of Unplugging to help you step away from the digital noise, reconnect with yourself, and cultivate mindfulness. This retreat is designed to slow down the pace of life, immerse in meditation, creativity, nature, and meaningful connection, and experience the power of intentional presence. Together, we will embrace silence, mindful engagement, and community, creating space for deeper reflection and awareness. While our sessions will be guided via Zoom, there will also be opportunities to step away from the screen and into nature or personal creative practice. Who is this for? Anyone who wants to pause, reset, and examine their relationship with your smartphones.

If you live in the area and would like to have unplugged programming in your neighborhood, consider joining us, as we all have a stake in building a healthy community!

Jay Van Dyke - Top Rated Squarespace Web Designer in New Jersey

Hi, I’m Jay. I’m a freelance web developer who specializes in Squarespace, and I’ve been building and customizing Squarespace sites for over 9 years.

A lot of my experience comes from working inside the real constraints of the platform, not just designing pages but dealing with how sites actually behave once they’re live. That means things like layout limitations, styling edge cases, performance quirks, and the moments where Squarespace is great until it suddenly isn’t.

Most of what I write here comes directly from real projects, real questions, and real problems I see people run into with Squarespace every day.
